Resident Centered Care

What We Have Done Toward Resident Centerd Care

• Established ‘neighborhoods’ within the facility. These neighborhoods are staffed with the same employees, as much as is possible, so that they better know each resident and their needs.
• In addition to the facility wide activity program, each neighborhood is responsible for having at least one activity within their neighborhood during first and second shifts.
• Animals have been found to be wonderful companions for residents. Many enjoy sitting daily by our large aviary and watch the activity of the birds living there or in the lounges. “Kane”, our resident yellow lab, is great company and dearly loved along with our three cats (Polly, Blinky, and Flower). Residents are also allowed to bring in their own pets that meet facility criteria.
• Meal time is an important time and the opportunity to choose between different entrees is essential. Along with a salad bar at noon and soup appetizer before the evening meal, residents can view ahead of time the tasty menu before coming to their meal.
• We have been successful in putting together a large number of staff that have a history of being part of our organization on a long-term basis because they love the residents, feel important within the organization, and are committed to the care that we provide. The front line staff who work directly with the residents are the ones most responsible for making decisions that affect them.

Have FUN!! The opportunity for laughter and fun is an important part of our care.

A sense of caring and community, in a Christian atmosphere
OUR MISSION: To achieve the best quality of life for our residents.

OUR GOALS: Have our residents feel happier, content & enjoying their role as a vital part of their new neighborhood. Empower people to more control of their life and be enjoying as much freedom, independence, and privacy as possible. Develop ‘family’ between residents & staff as they live and work together. Good communication between families, residents, and staff. Comfort in telling staff what they need and want in order to enjoy life.

Our own Red Hat Society group “Grannies with Hatitude” are supported in their ‘fun’ by employees who also dress up in their purple outfits with red hats (if they are over 50) or lavender outfits with pink hats (if they are under 50 and red hat wannabes).

“Theme months” bring a lot of inventive excitement, like the month we celebrated the Wild West and each resident had their own “Wanted Poster” on their door with their chosen nick name and picture of them decked out in western gear.
