What We Have Done Toward Resident Centerd
Care
• Established ‘neighborhoods’
within the facility. These neighborhoods are staffed with the
same employees, as much as is possible, so that they better know
each resident and their needs.
• In addition to the facility wide activity program, each
neighborhood is responsible for having at least one activity within
their neighborhood during first and second shifts.
• Animals have been found to be wonderful companions for
residents. Many enjoy sitting daily by our large aviary and watch
the activity of the birds living there or in the lounges. “Kane”,
our resident yellow lab, is great company and dearly loved along
with our three cats (Polly, Blinky, and Flower). Residents are
also allowed to bring in their own pets that meet facility criteria.
• Meal time is an important time and the opportunity to
choose between different entrees is essential. Along with a salad
bar at noon and soup appetizer before the evening meal, residents
can view ahead of time the tasty menu before coming to their meal.
• We have been successful in putting together a large number
of staff that have a history of being part of our organization
on a long-term basis because they love the residents, feel important
within the organization, and are committed to the care that we
provide. The front line staff who work directly with the residents
are the ones most responsible for making decisions that affect
them.
Have FUN!!
The opportunity for laughter and fun is an important part of our
care.
