About Us Who We Are

Who We Are

Faith. Hope. Love

A History of FAITH

In 1918 the home of Henry Langeland on Peck Street was donated to provide resident care for the elderly from area Reformed, Christian Reformed, and Berean Churches. That one donation eventually grew into a non-profit ministry dedicated to serving seniors with a caring home where their needs would be met with skill and Christian love.

In the mid-1960’s it became apparent that there was a growing number of seniors who needed a higher level of care than the original home for the aged could provide. It was out of that need that Christian Care purchased the current nursing center, which is on Kenneth Street, and began its ministry of long-term care.

Over the years the home for the aged on Peck Street was expanded, renovated, and eventually replaced with a new assisted living community at 1530 McLaughlin Avenue.

Providing HOPE

Today, Christian Care of Muskegon celebrates over 90 years of service to our community’s elders. Our Nursing Center provides 24-hour nursing care for up to 49 residents. The dedicated staff of certified personnel is trained to meet residents’ basic needs as well as provide person-centered care to each resident. An emphasis is given to outstanding Alzheimer’s care; staff participates in ongoing specialized training and continues to create innovative programs for those with memory impairments.

Our Assisted Living Community provides 24-hour care for up to 105 residents. Here, each resident is given the assistance they need while supporting their independent lifestyle. Our compassionate staff offers a sense of caring and community that enriches each resident’s quality of life.

Continuing in LOVE

As we look to the future we understand the need to continually evaluate the care we give. Our recent family satisfaction survey concluded that 97% of our families are satisfied with the care their loved one receives at Christian Care. But we aren’t content to stand still. We understand the importance of ongoing efforts to get even better in the care we give. After all, our goal is to give Christian care to each of our residents with FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE.
